Get ready for a howl-o-ween spectacular at St. Petersburg’s Halloween on Central! This spook-tacular open-air extravaganza is rolling back into town on Sunday, October 25th, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., and it’s St. Pete’s biggest street festival, with costumes, candy, vendors, music and a whole city out in the sun. This is our 6th year with the Grand Central District, and Dog Bar is right in the middle of it. Imagine nearly two miles of Central Avenue transformed into a car-free wonderland, stretching from 31st Street all the way to Dr. MLK Jr. (9th) Street. It’s like the whole city becomes one big dog park, but with costumes, treats, and endless fun! Now, let’s talk about the real stars of the show – our four-legged friends at Dog Bar! People stood five deep along Central Avenue last October to watch dogs shorter than the fence. They’re back on Sunday, October 25, and this year the corgis want in. Small Dog Races, 1 to 3 PM. Dachshunds, Chihuahuas, Corgis (new this year), and an Open race for any dog under 30 lbs. They run in heats of four on a fenced track in the street, and the fastest move on to the final around 3. Some sprint, some stop to say hi to the crowd, and every heat gets a cheer. Register for the races now by clicking on the ticket link or going to our events page on dogbarstpete.com! Costume Parade, 4 PM. Free, no signup. Meet at the race track in costume. Prizes for Best Ensemble, Most Creative and Funniest. There’s dog trick-or-treating, a DJ, and Jell-O shots all afternoon. Every race entry, raffle ticket and Jell-O shot goes to Skyway Dachshund Rescue, the all-volunteer rescue that has found homes for more than 500 dogs. The street is free and open to all ages and all dogs. Inside Dog Bar and our off-leash yard, humans need to be 21+ and dogs need to be spayed or neutered with current shots. PSTA buses are free all day, so leave the car at home.
