Jason Bentley is host of KCRW’s weekly global dance-electronic mix show Metropolis, and his enduring passion for the genre has made him a leading tastemaker in the SoCal music scene for years. Having played the full spectrum of clubs and festivals, including Coachella, EDC, HARD, CRSSD, Lightning In A Bottle, The Hollywood Bowl, and countless other clubs and special events, his love of the music hasn’t diminished over time. “I’ve always been drawn to the intersection of music and technology, and dance music continues to be at the leading edge of that experience.” As a club and radio DJ, music supervisor for film, and music industry executive, Jason has championed the energy and core principles of the dance genre – community, positivity, and the opportunity for growth. Jason served as music director of NPR affiliate KCRW radio and host of their signature daily music program Morning Becomes Eclectic for over a decade. As a music supervisor for film, Jason coordinated the soundtracks for The Matrix trilogy, Tron: Legacy with Daft Punk, and consulted on Oblivion with M83, and most recently Top Gun Maverick. As a voice in the industry, Jason has served on the Recording Academy board of governors, various awards committees, and advocated for the first album awards category for dance music at the Grammys. Jason just completed a remix for the UK act Bent’s single “Magic Love”, and a few of his recent guests on Metropolis include Sofi Tukker, KC Lights, ASHRR, Junior Sanchez, and Gilligan Moss.
